The wait is over – the Octopus Ahoy! app has splashed down – it’s officially live and ready for you to download for free on both Apple and Android devices!
This app will be your best shipmate this summer, helping you to navigate the trail of octopus sculptures and more; use the treasure map to plan your route and keep an eye on the built-in step counter to track your activity as you make your way around Essex to discover each creative cephalopod, one by one.
The app is also a treasure trove of information about the project! Discover more about the fantastic professional artists who decorated our 4ft sculptures… read up about our Octopus Patrons that sponsored their favourite designs… and find out about the schools whose pupils that took part in our education programme, painting their own miniature sculpture to be put on display in indoor locations across Tendring. Each and every vibrant sculpture design has a story behind it.
What’s more, once the trail launches on the 25th June (so close we can almost touch it!), each sculpture will have its own plaque, featuring a unique QR code… simply scan with your app to collect them all – and unlock amazing rewards on the large sculptures provided by our sponsors, such as a free cream tea at Fillpots Garden Centre, a prize draw to win a Family Annual Pass to Colchester Zoo – and so, so much more. The more octopuses you collect, the more freebies you’ll snag! We’ve even set some milestones for you to achieve to unlock even more prizes and fun (not to mention earning bragging rights).
