Auction To Bid Farewell to Octopus Ahoy! Sculptures

Following the removal of the delightful Octopus Ahoy! sculptures from the streets of Tendring at the end of the trail on 5th September, the crew are looking ahead to our final key event of the project… the Octopus Ahoy! auction, where we will bid farewell to our beloved octopuses as they sail away to their new forever homes.

This very special evening is sponsored, and kindly hosted, by valued Octopus Patron Milsom Hotels and will take place at the beautiful Le Talbooth in Dedham on Thursday 23rd September.

The auction itself will be expertly run by Reeman Dansie, one of the most highly regarded provincial auctioneers and valuers in the UK, and esteemed supporters of our project.

The event will see our large sculptures – as well as one or two or our smaller octopuses – auctioned, with profits to be donated to Essex Community Foundation and the Tendring Community Fund. We could not be more delighted to raise money for these worthy causes, pouring funds straight back into supporting the very community that has supported and enjoyed our sculpture trail this summer.

Attendance at the event is by invitation only, and tickets are £15 per head (which includes entry, a welcome drink, canapés and a copy of the auction guide).

If you wish to find out more information about purchasing one or more of the octopus sculptures, and/or would like to attend the event, please contact us as soon as you’re ready at octopus@katmarketing.co.uk to register your interest and request an invitation.

The octopus bidding extravaganza will also be taking place online alongside the in-person event, on Reeman Dansie’s website. Online bids may be submitted from 15th September onwards, as well as throughout the evening of 23rd September.

We’ll be sad to wave goodbye to our octopuses but we’re sure there are wonderful things on the horizon for them in their new homes!
