One of the great joys that came with hunting down our wonderful 4ft by 4ft octopus sculptures using our free Octopus Ahoy! app, was unlocking the huge range of rewards and prizes that came with scanning each mollusc. We’ve loved seeing everyone redeeming their unlocked rewards, collecting their free fluffy octopus keychains, limited edition bubble tea courtesy of Bubble Bubble, and much more.
Over 600 of you entered the prize draw to win free ‘One For All’ vouchers, provided by Essex County Council, and it was a joy for the team each week of the trail to pick a winner at random. We would also like to say a huge congratulations to one octopus hunter named Ronnie, who was the lucky winner out of 769 entries for the fabulous 2-night getaway for two with Surya Hotels, a prize provided by sponsor Poundfield Precast Ltd.
Of course, CJ and the First Mate Crew had a fantastic time giving out fluffy octopus keyrings and Pink Parrot Pottery vouchers at Brightlingsea Lido and The Kingscliff Hotel to redeem their app rewards – we met many a friendly face and got some great pictures. Over 200 app users have also redeemed their prizes for both the sealife themed charm, provided by KAT Marketing, and branded pen and sweets, courtesy of Ellisons Solicitors.
