Octopus Ahoy! Starring the Electric Palace!

Harwich is all set for the launch of Tendring’s public art trail Octopus Ahoy!

The famous Electric Palace cinema played host to our 60 school sculptures recently for a photoshoot making them the first guests to sit in the famous cinema since the cast of Downton Abbey visited. The sculptures were attending a judging to see which one of them would be announced the winning design and jet skied into Clacton to take up residency at Clacton Pier – read about the winning sculpture here.

The cinema has been a beloved feature of Harwich for many years, which is why the Octopus Ahoy! crew just couldn’t miss out on an opportunity to visit in person in the lead up to the trail.

We did spot a couple of the sculptures with their tentacles around each other’s shoulders getting cosy as the movie began and the lights went down – who are we to get in the way of young octopus love?!

Octopus Date Night!

These 60 creative mollusc will soon be out of the cinema and on the trail with their 30 large siblings from the 25th June – you can navigate the entire trail, learn more about each sculpture and unlock rewards and milestones using the FREE app!
